Tom came to Hoover Fitness after making a 10 day cross-state hiking trip through Utah. Tom wasn't not feeling healthy inside or out and desired a real change. Our primary goal working together was healthy, sustainable weight loss through innovative nutrition concepts as well as adoption of a weight lifting routine.
"Garrett and I started working together in late 2017. I was 280 pounds and extremely
unhealthy in terms of fitness and nutrition. With Garrett’s support and guidance I was
able to slowly work hard to bring myself down to 211 lbs. I went from a 42 waist jean to
a 34 waist jean and running 10k races and exercising four to six days a week. Without a
doubt, Garrett’s insight and unwavering support were able to help me keep on track when
things got difficult, pushing me to the place that I am today, but I am not done yet. As
always, Garrett will be with me on this next chapter of my journey to achieve a life of
wellness both mentally and physically."
It is my pleasure to tell you about my experience with Hoover Fitness. Garrett is a professional whose experience in the art of personal fitness has allowed him to distill his expertise into a scientific process for his clients. Over the last year, his dedication and personal attention to my fitness goals has allowed me to not only enjoy the continuous muscle development that I desired, but also build an unwavering discipline that has transformed other parts of my life. I am more confident, health-minded, and an example of personal growth to my friends and family.
One of the greatest takeaways from my time with Garrett is what he calls the mind-muscle connection -- you cannot improve one without the other. Garrett taught me how to use this concept during exercises in the gym, as well as out of the gym in areas of dieting and my career development.
Matt reached out to me directly around Thanksgiving 2017 looking to make a change to his physique and appearance. He did not feel healthy inside or out and was looking to improve his body composition and learn how to effectively manage his diet and nutrition. Through
"Where do I start when it comes to Garrett. He is by far THE BEST trainer I have worked with over the past couple of years. I started working with Garrett back in November of 2017. Now into 2019 I have seen great results both physically, mentally, and financially.
When I started working with him I weighed in at 130lbs with 13.7% body fat, now January of 2019, I'm up to 162lbs and with body fat around 14%. While I just finished my bulking phase with him, I have greatly increased my size and strength. Over the past year or so, we have greatly worked on my strength and form. Now, I can confidently do the exercises with increased loads without worry of severely injuring myself! We have finally transformed myself to a much more confident person.
One of the biggest areas Garrett worked with me was on the meals. My favorite meal daily was always McDonald's, Burger King or Stromboli. All of which are severe no-no's. Now, I have grown a liking for many vegetables for that I have never liked in the past like asparagus, and cauliflower. While meal prepping, I have found ways to make boring old chicken have some taste, without having to add the high sugar, high carb, high fat dressings. Meal preparation has become a weekly routine for me now, even though my work schedule is so varied, I still find time to prepare my food and set me up for success during each week. In addition to the meal prep, I have learned how to selectively enjoy all of my previous cravings but with more moderation and awareness of the total calories I am consuming.
Another HUGE HUGE HUGE (Yes, I meant HUGE) area we worked on was Finances. When I started with Garrett, I was drowning in credit card and loan debt and living paycheck to paycheck, regardless of my ability to earn a substantial income. Through his life coaching techniques, I have learned to budget and manage my finances to allow for greater freedom in my life. Through working with Garrett, we have paid saved and paid OFF almost ALL of my debt, to the point I was able to live the American Dream and purchase a house for myself. I never imagined that at the young age of 26, I would be signing documents to get a new house on my own with no co-signer. We had managed to find ways to cut wasteful spending like eating out all the time, and buying things because I wanted them, instead of actually needing them. We also developed a budget that allows me to live comfortably, and not paycheck to paycheck, while planning for the next steps in my life.
Looking back at my success, I realize to go with anyone other than Hoover Fitness would be a mistake. There is a reason I have stayed for so long, and the reason is PROVEN RESULTS. "
